172R Simulator
Michael Neal, USA - Colorado Another 172R simulator project, mine is continually evolving as do many home built simulators. Currently based around Simkits gauges, GoFlight "avionics", and CH flight controls, the carpentry and creativity to bring it all together has been an ongoing father-son project for my dad and me. It has been as enjoyable to build as it is to fly, and continues to be as we make further tweaks and enhancements. The current system runs FSX on a Dell XPS M1530 Laptop driving a Viewsonic DLP projector at 1024x768 native. Audio communications are piped through a separate USB sound card and into a David Clark Isocom for real aviation headset use. Our current project is rebuilding the base and panel support sections to incorporate dual controls and seats. The photos show some of the project's evolution since early 2003.
